Angels & Demons

Another controversial film. While we can sit and argue this movie for days, even years... you could put and end to all the arguing by simply allowing the public into the Vatican's archives.

Anytime a group of people want to hide something from others, or demonize another group of people, you have to step back and ask why. Sadly when it comes to the Vatican most people just go along with it.

While most people will do good in the name of their religion, religions of all types generally will do more harm to the masses than good. Don't believe me? Look around at the events going on, and that have been going on since the first religions spawned.

I never read the book by Dan, so I went into this movie with no expectations. I found it very entertaining. It made me ask some questions though that I hadn't thought of, and I applaud this movie for that. Any movie that makes you stop and think, well now, that's entertainment.

I own The Da Vinci Code on DVD and will probably be replacing it when I can with a Blu-Ray copy, and yes I will be purchasing Angels & Demons on Blu-Ray as well.

Star Trek

Before even going to see this I could already smell the controversy. My own mother who is a huge Trek Fan said, "I'm not sure if I can adjust to someone else playing the parts of Kirk and Spock". My only question from the trailer and information floating around on the internet was, "Is this going to be a rip-off of the independently produced movie: Star Trek - Of Gods and Men?"

While the new Star Trek movie is much faster paced, and tells the story in a better way, I was sad to find out it was indeed a rip-off of the movie Star Trek - Of Gods and Men. While not a complete copy, this new movie is less in depth in actual things going on in our world, and tries to stay more with the Star Trek universe. Even this is very hard though as this movie literally destroys all that we know and recreates it. However, this ending leaves it wide open for a sequel or more importantly a new television series.

Below you'll find the usual trailer for the movie, but I've also included a trailer to the independently produced Star Trek - Of Gods and Men.

Of Gods and Men is a little more traditional in its style, bringing original cast members from the first four series. While not as fast paced or heavily CG'd as the new Star Trek movie, this one touches on things going on in our current world. Its story has a more traditional Trek ending which will probably please more people. If you haven't seen this, take the time to watch it and notice just how much of the new movie was riped-off from this one.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I really debated on going to watch this movie. The original movie to me is okay, the second one is slightly better, and the third was a complete disappointment. It came down to about 2 nights before the opening and I decided I'd give it a try. I was not let down. I had a great time, if anything I'd say this is the best X-Men movie so far.

The ending seemed to be going fine, leading pretty much right up to the opening of the first movie, until they throw in a little cliff hanger suggesting that there could be a possible 2nd Wolverine movie, or a fourth X-Men movie.

I don't own any of the X-Men movies... I just didn't like them that much. However, again I'm debating, and only time will tell if I purchase this one.
